Black and White Heart in Four Pieces

Oil on Metal. This piece began life as the hoods from two ford f150 pick up trucks , each with over 20 years on the road. I cut up the hood and used four of the pieces as the base. The pieces were sanded, primed and then coated ina high gloss white oil paint I then paint the black in the shape of many overlapping hearts. Its a piece about love and loss and rebirth. The void in-between the pieces form the shape of a cross. My experience is that love is both delicate and tough. Love is overlapping; it builds upon itself. My experience of love has at times also been very challenging. Love, at it's best, is based in experiences with something larger than ourselves.
